Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement – Special Cycle, May 2023

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as postal GDS or Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) [Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)] in Branch Post Offices (BOs) created in the year 2023. The details of the vacant posts and the engagement schedule are as follows:

India post GDS salary

Emoluments in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) plus Dearness Allowance thereon will be paid to the GDS. The applicable Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) to different categories is as under for post office GDS Salary:

  • BPM (Branch Postmaster): Rs. 12,000-29,380(GDS salary per month)
  • ABPM (Assistant Branch Postmaster): Rs. 10,000-24,470(GDS salary per month)

Brief Job Profile and Residence/Accommodation

(i) BRANCH POSTMASTER (BPM):

The Job Profile of the Branch Postmaster includes:

  • BPM performs Day to day postal operations of the Branch Post Office (B.O) and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) as per departmental guidelines from the postal department.
  • Marketing and promotion of products and services offered by the Department.
  • BPM’s responsibility is to Smooth and timely functioning of the office, including mail conveyance and delivery.

(ii) ASSISTANT BRANCH POSTMASTER (ABPM):

The Job Profile of Assistant Branch Postmaster includes:

  • Sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and other postal operations as per departmental guidelines.
  • Assisting Branch Postmaster in day-to-day postal operations.
  • Marketing and promotion of products and services offered by the Department.

Residence/Accommodation: Selected BPM candidates will have to provide accommodation for the Branch Post Office before engagement. The applicant must submit a declaration with accommodation details. The selected candidate will be required to reside in the Post village where the BO is functioning. The accommodation should meet the prescribed standards.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (subject to relaxations as per applicable guidelines)
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard examination from a recognized Board with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects. They should also have studied the local language up to the secondary standard.
  • Other Qualifications: Knowledge of computer operations and cycling, as well as adequate means of livelihood.

Reservation and Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, EWS, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories as per government guidelines. Applicants must submit the required certificates in the prescribed format.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on a system-generated merit list. The selection process will include verification of original documents and qualification criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through SMS/email about the document verification process.
